Reduce Your Shots By Using Your
Powerful Woods

The woods are your power clubs designed to hit the ball to the maximum distance, producing a long, low trajectory. They are graded from 1 to 5; and even higher. Like your irons, as the number rises, the shaft gets shorter and the club-face becomes more lofted.

You really only need 3 woods in your bag .... your driver, your 3 or 4 wood (or both) and your 5 wood. Some ladies even prefer to use their 3 wood as their driver

Drivers

Ladies Callawy Big Bertha DriverDriving must be the most important part of your game. You can make up for the odd wayward shot by holing a putt, but unless you get a really high percentage of drives on the fairway, good scoring will always be a struggle.

A good drive sets you up for the hole; a bad one demolishes your confidence and the chance of you scoring well

Driving is also the easiest part of your game. The ball is teed up, allowing for your natural instinct of hitting your ball on your upswing, like scooping it into the air, which is correct.

The key points in hitting good drives are ….

to position the ball ahead of the natural bottom of your swing

to stay behind the ball as you hit it – sweeping it up into the air

a really good grip in which the right hand is behind, not beneath, the shaft

the confidence to accelerate right through – to a firm, long, perfectly balanced finish

Fairway Woods

Ladies Ping Fairway WoodFor the average lady golfer, the fairway woods are often the most used clubs in your bag. Simply because they are easier to use than long irons and need less strength than the ‘ball-turf’ contact needed with irons.

The 3 and 4 woods are good general purpose woods for achieving distance. The 5 wood produces the highest and shortest shots of the woods. It is a great alternative to the 2 or 3 irons, as well as having the advantage of playing long semi-recovery shots from the light rough or poor lies.

Your selection of all brands of fairway woods can be found here or you may prefer the ladies Diamond range from here.
